  • State Regulations

Learn about the various state regulations concerning Food Manager Certification.

What are Califonia's Food Safety Regulations?

In California, food facilities that prepare, handle, or serve non-prepackaged potentially hazardous food, except temporary food facilities, shall have an owner or employee who has successfully passed an approved and accredited food safety certification examination as specified in Sections 113947.2 and 113947.3. of the CA Health & Safety Code §113947.

The owner or manager need not be present at the food facility during all hours of operation. California allows 60 days for new owners or food managers to become CFPM certified.

To become a certified food protection manager, individuals must pass a food protection manager certification exam from an ANAB approved provider such as FMC® Food Managers Certification by EduClasses®.
